Wasteland KINg

This guide will walk you through what Wasteland King is, what it means if you win or lose, what rewards you can earn, and what a “Typical State’s Wasteland King” participation looks like!

What is wasteland king?

Wasteland King is an event that happens every 2 weeks, and can last up to 24 hours. The event is based around the Zenith Tech Hub + the 4 towers that surround it – you can find them located in the centre of the map. You are paired against other states, and will either agree to an NAP, or battle to protect your own Hub, or battle to take over another region(s) hub!

How do you win?

  1. Consecutively holding it for 8 hours straight.
  2. Maximum holding time by the end of the event.
    • If it’s been switching occupations throughout the event, the state that holds it the highest total # of hours wins. If a state can hold the hub for 8 consecutive hours, they can still win even if you’ve held it the longest. Consecutive 8 hour hold overrules maximum total hours held.

How do you get a shield on your hub?

There are two ways you can shield your own state’s hub during the event (before winning the event).

  1. Occupy another hub. Home state hub will remain under a shield as long as you occupy another hub.
    • This means if you are attempting to take over another state, it is important to send your strongest players to the other state. You will still need to keep some players in your home state hub – it is recommended just to fill it with taxi’s. The other state can occupy the towers, even with the hub shielded, which will cause permanent death to the troops occupying the hub. Taxi’s are cheapest to recover, so it is recommended to maintain the hub with them.
  2. Reclaim home state hub. If your state hub was occupied by another state, winning it back will keep your state hub under a shield for 30 minutes.
    • As mentioned above, the shield will not protect the hub from turret attacks if the other state(s) capture the turrets.

What happens if We lose our hub?

  • Fast Comeback automatically starts
  • No state boosts, no titles, and no Governor’s Award boxes until your state secures your home state hub in an upcoming Wasteland King.
  • All taxed resources goes to foreign state’s coffers.
    • All states, whether you are conquered or not, pay a tax (in the form of resources) on plundering hqs (30%) and the taxes via transporting (whatever your trading post is at). If you secure your hub, these taxes go into the abyss. Conquered states pay taxes on a daily basis to the state that conquered them. These resources go to Coffers, which the governor can decide to allocate how they wish.
  • Foreign state cannot initiate state boosts or control taxes, but they will get your home state’s Governor’s Awards to give to their players.

What happens if we secure our hub?

Congratulations! You survived another Wasteland King – and now you can appoint a Governor! Once your hub is secure, either after it is shielded or at the end of the event, the R5 of the occupying alliance can appoint the governor. Look for a new pop-up icon in the lower right corner of your screen on the map view. If you are viewing or in a different state, you may need to go view your own state to see the pop-up. Make sure you have a stable internet connection and people are not coming and going. The person you want to appoint governor must be in your alliance to be appointed.

If a new governor is not appointed within the 2 hour timer, the governor title will automatically pass to the R5 of the occupying alliance.

There is a lot the Governor gets to do, so there is actually a full page on this, that you can read here – Governors Guide.

How do I participate & Earn points?

Now that you know the general idea of wasteland king, you’re probably wondering what it looks like to participate in this event. All states can run this event in their own way, however, many host it in a similar way. We’ll walk through the “typical” way most state short their Wasteland King. It is important to check with your state how they run their Wasteland King, as some things may vary.

To break it down simply:

  1. Sign up to defend your state (via method your state has to sign up)
  2. Before your shift, leave your current alliance, and join the State Alliance / Alliance used to host wasteland king in your state
  3. Send your assigned troops to the tower/hub you are registered to.
  4. Sit back and relax. If a strong opponent knocks you out of the tower, you may need to resend your troops.
  5. If you don’t earn enough Fast Comeback in your shift and want more, you may need to visit an opposing state, and send troops to die. Make sure to follow the NAP agreement for the day.
  6. Collect your rewards – congratulations, you participated in Wasteland King!

Planning

Prior to the event, your state will want to develop a plan. The following steps are the recommended procedure to follow:

  1. Develop a State Alliance, where all alliances can come together to host Wasteland Kings.
    • It’s easier to make an alliance specifically for this, to ensure all alliances in your state get to participate. You will want to develop the Tech Tree of this alliance, so it is suggested to have farm accounts of the members of the state there during the week, to develop the Tech tree, and keep the alliances alive.
  2. Determine ahead of time who the future Governor will be.
    • Many states have some sort of rotation via their council for this role. The governor has a lot of responsibility, so choose wisely!
  3. Make a sign up sheet & then have members of your state sign up!
    • It is recommended to develop a Google Form to track sign ups in your state. The suggested information to obtain would be Character name & alliance, Troop Size, Rally Size, Main Troop type, other troop types they have a full march of, troop tier, and what shift they can attend. All states do their shifts differently, so align on that before the event.
      • You will want to have people sign up as Captains or defenders. Captains will be your strongest players, who will be required to activate Super Reinforcement on their assigned Tower/Hub. A good way to compare strength, is to request Zombie Lair level people can solo. Super reinforcement gives the Captains stats to all of the troops in their tower/hub. You should aim to choose your strongest Captain, with the largest rally size, to be your Hub captain.
  4. Close sign up a few days before Wasteland King (recommended end of day Wednesday at reset) & makes assignments.
    • This gives your team time to sort through the registrations and start to make assignments. You will want to organize people by troop type into different Towers & Hubs. You will want to fill the Hub and the North, East, South and West towers. Who you select as Captain, their Rally Size will determine how many troops you can fit in the tower.
    • Some states may have a specific way of planning, and some have an automatic planning tool! Find out what your state does before planning.
  5. Send out the assignments before Wasteland King. You should aim to have the assignments out at least 24 hours in advance to the event, to give people an opportunity to share the schedules with their teams.
  6. That’s it! Your planning is done – now to the day of the event!

The final thing you should do is prepare for Fast Comeback, by filling your infirmary. You can learn more about this here, on the Fast Comeback Guide.

Day OF Event

The day of Wasteland King, runs fairly similarly every event. It is important to know, you do not know your opponents until the event starts. When you look at “Upcoming Events” and see Wasteland King there, it shows the last states you were against. The following steps are a general idea of how the event works:

  1. The event starts at 10:00 UTC. You will want to join the alliance before your scheduled shift, so you are ready to join your assigned tower.
  2. When the event starts, all Captains should send their march as fast as possible their assigned Tower/Hub. This is to make sure your entire march can fit in, and other people can start to reinforce you. Make sure to turn on super reinforcement!
  3. If you aren’t a captain, start your march to your assigned tower, by clicking “attack. You will want to be in your State alliance, and in your home state (unless taking over another regions state).
    • If you are in a later day shift, ask your Captain when they are ready for you to send your reinforcements. They may have to remove someone from the previous shift to allow your whole march to fit in.
  4. In the first few minutes of the event, you also need to decide if you are going to establish NAP, or if you are going to try to take over another State’s hub. There should be someone designated to do this on behalf of the state. They will discuss in the Battle Division chat with the other states.
    • If you want to take over another state, get your Top players to evaluate, by looking at their True Might rank in the opposing states. If you have multiple players stronger than the other states, that may indicate it’s a great time to try your luck in taking over another state!
    • You can agree to NAP with all states you are against, or just one. You will also want to consider the NAP terms, based on how young / weak your state is. If you don’t have any strong players with T12’s+, you will want to make sure you NAP term have low values that the opposing states can send to attack you. Otherwise, you will have towers being taken, and heavy losses across your entire state.
      • If you end up having high losses, consider swapping the troops in the towers, with taxis to prevent major losses in your state.. This could annoy the opposing state, so be cautious with this strategy.
      • You can also ask if there is someone who could step in for you if you have too many losses.Keep any eye on your infirmary and deep heal. Try to prevent overflowing your deep heal.
  5. Once NAP is determined, the rest is easy! Watch for NAP breaks, and rotate members through their various shifts.
  6. If your state is not given NAP, and another state decides to take you over, you also need to decide when to concede. If the other state is extremely overpowered, sometimes it is better not to fight, and just take the day off.

Points Breakdown

To get all the stages of rewards, you need to earn a minimum of 10,000 points during the event. There are multiple ways you can earn these points including:

  1. Killing enemy units
    • By either attacking other states, or having players attack the tower you are occupying
    • Different tier troops have different point values
    • You can also earn points here by attacking tiles or HQ’s of those states that land in the mud
  2. Losing units when attacking players from other states
    • By either attacking other states, or having players attack the tower you are occupying
    • Different tier troops have different point values
    • This is also how you earn Fast Comeback – one of the most rewarding parts of Wasteland King.
  3. Sit in (occupy) the Zenith Tech Hub/Turrets
    • Maximum of 120 minutes for 2000 points.

What Rewards can I earn?

The rewards you can earn, depend on what Grade your State is. Your state’s Grade will change, depending on if you only capture your own hub, if you lose your hub, or if you take over other states hubs.

Note: NEW STATES will compete in a STARTER GRADE along with other starter states for their 1st and 2nd Wasteland King before being matched by their grade level.

The graphic shows the points earned or deducted based on the current grade your state is in.

The Grades by Trophies are as followed:

  1. Bronze: 1000-1399
  2. Silver: 1400 – 1799
  3. Gold: 1800 – 2299
  4. Platinum: 2300 – 2999
  5. Diamond: >= 3000
  6. Legend: Top 15 at Diamond Grade

It’s important to note, that if you do not occupy any foreign states when you are in tier Gold or Higher, you will lose points even if you secured your own Hub.

Rewards

Besides earning Fast-comeback, the best reward you can earn in Wasteland King are “Nataly Frag” hero frags.Nataly is a Fighter hero you can only earn during Wasteland King, or by using Perfect frags. She has skills for Fighter ATK, Shooter ATK, and Troop DEF so she is most useful for Fighter and Shooter mains. You only earn these frags in grade Gold or higher. Starting in Gold, you will also earn a 12-day frame, that gives you a boost in Troop stats.

If you are in a grade lower than Gold, don’t fret – there are still plenty of great rewards you can earn, including diamonds, resources, and 5 star Hero Choice Cards.

Fast-comeback

Fast comeback is one of the best benefits you can get from Wasteland King, and as such, it deserves its own page! You can (and should) read all about Fast Comeback here – Fast Comeback Guide.
